It's great news today! 21 days have passed since the feral bee tree went down in the storm. We insulated the back of their new quarters with insulation against the wind and faced the front of the hive bodies with their original bee entry...buttoned together with roofing paper. Then the deluge of rains came to the northeast...had they been able to fly enough to get settled and recoup before the rains? The answer is a RESOUNDING YES! We opened up the top of the hives this morning. All of the comb that was smashed from their tree is beng moved into the hive bodies and frames below...and they are hauling pollen and there is brood! And something wonderful is going on inside...Take a look...we think you'll be happy for the "Survivor Bees" We added "another room". They deserve it! Check back for updates...Oh, and the butcher twine in the first image...that was from the hiving day, used to tie in their comb to frames...guess they decided to get rid of it once they began remodeling...because they chewed through it and left it in the bottom of the hives for us to clean out...amazing creatures!
